| Step 1. Place the jig on a table or work bench and assemble the two precision sets on top of the jig. Push the skates piece by piece against the two precision sets and secure the runners by the large knobs. Step 2. Place the skates on the jig with the inner sides of the shoes facing each other. Step 3. Push the skates piece by piece against the two precision sets and secure them with the large knobs. Now remove the precision sets. Both skates are now at the same heigth in the jig and the sharpening can begin. Step 4. Start the sharpening process with the rough side of the combination sharpening stone. Make horizontal strokes alternating from left to the right and right to left. Press lightly over the whole length. Step 5. By running your finger-nail along the edge of the blade you can find out if the blade is sharp enough when some white surface of the nail remains on the blade. To finalise the sharpening move the stone lengthwise over the blade. The reason for this is that the sharpening groves are running now in the length of the blade. Step 6. Proceed now to polish with the finer side of the stone working in the length until the grooves have disappereared. Also here use the whole stone as much as possible. Step 7. Remove the burr from the blades by polishing with a burr stone along the sides of the blades while the skates are still in the jig. Step 8. It is recommended to polish with "Zandstra Sports Polishing System". In this way a professional result is achieved thereby giving the maximum skating pleasure. Step 9. The skates can now be removed from the jig. Once again run the burr stone along the blades and the skates are now ready for use. |

| Some Tips Every skate specialist has his own opinion with regard to the best way to sharpening ice skates. However, we would like to give you some general tips. * Most skate specialists sharpen with a dry stone. Some use a little oil on the stone. But there is less clogging of the stone with dry sharpening. * We recommend that a clogged stone be cleaned. This can be done by rinsing the stone in warm clean water. * Never store your skates away without making sure that the runners are dry. Good greasing is also advisable. Remove the guards during storage. * Sharpen your skates regularly but do not more than necessary. By unnecessary sharpening your runners will wear out too soon. * It is advisable to have your skates radiused on a Radius Sharpening Machine at least once during the skating season. |
